A little of everything!

Yes I have it. It being the Sidekick LX. When I first picked it up it just didn't feel quite as bulky as previous Sidekicks. Reviews said the screen was brighter, and to me it did seem brighter. Basically it has the same features as the Sidekick 3. There are not many applications in the catalog for the Sidekick LX. I did download the MySpace application. That application is free till the end of the year, then it'll be $1.99 per month after that. I'll decide later if I'm going to keep that application or not.
AT&T has been releasing a lot of new cell phones lately. I like the looks of the "Tilt". For those of you that are into stocks. Virgin Mobile had an IPO and is now trading.
Let me know what features you like on your cell phone. So until next time, keep your cell phones charged.

Just can't live without it.

From my previous post on waiting it has come down to exactly that again. I have come to realize that I need and want two devices. I have always believed in the Sidekick devices from Danger. From the Sidekick color to the Sidekick II and now the Sidekick3. Well, along came the iPhone. I thought back then, OMG...can this be it? A device that can do everything? After getting the iPhone and not using the Sidekick3. Less than a month later, I am back to using both the iPhone and my Sidekick3. I use them both everyday and it's so easy not to be tied to the computer every minute of the day. People can reach me where ever I am. Whether by phone or text messaging or instant messaging on AIM, there I am. So, back to this waiting issue again. The SidekickLX is going to be released on October 24th. Yes, I am waiting for the release. Sharp is the manufacturer for the SidekickLX as they have been for all the previous Sidekicks. The Sidekick Slide is manufactured by Motorola so that will be interesting to see how that is received by the consumers. I will let you know how the waiting goes. Let me know again what technology you love waiting for. So until next time, keep your cell phones charged.

Always waiting!

Seems I am always waiting for something. There are somethings I do
not mind waiting for. Going out to dinner and waiting for 30 minutes
to one hour does not bother me. Then as soon as the waiting involves
technology, time cannot move fast enough. First it was the Sidekick
3. Then the Samsung Blackjack, and then waiting for the iPhone and
the final eight hours of standing in line until I had it in my hands.
Now I am again waiting for the next got to have gadgets. Yes I am an
early adopter, but I wouldn't want to be any other way. Let me know
what you wait for. The next new cell phone, new television, or have
to have the hot new car. So until next time, keep your cell phones
charged.

Not a lot of news and lazy!

I know I haven't updated in a while. There have been some new cell phone released. But there are always some new cell phones being released. Amp'd mobile is no longer in business. That happened a few weeks ago. News has been rather slow and then all of a sudden, POW! Lots of new news. Apple lowered the price of the 8GB iPhone and the 4GB iPhone by $200. And then Apple released the iPod Nano, iPod Classic and the iPod Touch. The iPod Touch is an iPhone without the phone part. It has a touch screen like the iPhone. People were hoping for a larger capacity iPod and Apple released a 160GB iPod Classic. That is a lot of music in your hand. And soon people with the iTouch and iPhone can access the iTunes store via WiFi and download music. Then people can sync back with the computer and the purchased music will be added to your library. That will be cool when it becomes available.
I kind of miss my Sidekick3. I have been able to access AIM on my iPhone, but the AIM on the Sidekick3 is better still I think. Hopefully Apple will have an application for AIM or instant messaging for the iPhone soon. Does anyone out there like the EnV that Verizon has? I like the looks of that phone and have seen a few people with it. I just have not had a chance to try it out. Get back to me with any feedback you might have on that phone. So until next time, keep your cell phones charged.

Multi-Tasking in the Driver's Seat

Sitting here reading the paper and having a cup of coffee. Just trying to scan anything that deals with technology. Looks like Sprint has not done to well this last quarter. As I surf the web and look at some technology web sites, I notice Samsung has some new phones that will be coming out for AT&T and T-Mobile. Verizon lost a little financially due to Ampd Mobile not being able to pay to use the Verizon network.
That was a good coffee. Since I'm online I'm going to see what the forecast is for the next couple of days. It's going to be in the mid 70's for the week. I haven't looked to see what is on television tonight so I will look online for that too. Not a whole lot on television tonight. I love multi-tasking. Drinking coffee. Surfing on the internet and reading the paper. Typing out my blog for the day and all while driving. Isn't that what more and more people are doing? They do everything in the car. Should there be a law that prohibits text messaging while driving? Let me know what you think. Well, I'm home now. Let me turn off the car. So until next time, keep your cell phones charged.

Staying in the game...

Will any other cell phone provider make it? Ampd mobile has closed.
They paid to use Verizon's network. They spent a lot of money on
advertising. Ampd advertised entertainment (mp3, videos, games, etc.)
on your cell phone. Ampd mobile tried but still could not survive.
Can any small cell phone provider survive? Virgin Mobile has been
around for a while and has the experience of Richard Branson. Virgin
Mobile uses the Sprint network and used to advertise quite a lot.
Now, I do not see as much advertising from them. Will one day they be
eaten up by one of the larger cell phone providers?
Cricket Wireless has recently popped up in the Northwest. Everywhere
you looked was advertising for Cricket Wireless. Now there seems to
be nothing. How long before an AT&T, Verizon, Sprint or T-Mobile buy
them up? ESPN Mobile did not survive, they ended up being part of
Verizon Wireless.
Will the private company of Prexar Mobile who bought most of the
assets of Ampd Mobile survive?
Time will tell if smaller cell phone providers can make it or if they
will just be a part of the big four. So, until next time keep your
cell phones charged.

Devices while traveling!

What devices or gadgets do you take with you when you travel? Do you take your laptop? Last weekend I was traveling and I took my iPhone for checking and receiving e-mails and web browsing once in a while. I had a camera phone to upload pictures to my moblog. I also brought along a small digital camera to take pictures, and then upload the pictures to the computer when I got home. Carrying three devices around was a little cumbersome, but it gave me a lot of options.
Let me know what devices you take while traveling. Until next time, keep your cell phones charged.

Spam SMS

I woke up this morning and looked at my iPhone and saw I received
a SMS message. Usually it's an IM that is forwarded to my phone.
But no it was not a forwarded IM. This SMS message was the same one I
received last month. "Are you looking for the perfect gift?". Then
it leaves a URL in the SMS. I went to the URL stated in the SMS. I
can buy prestige replica watches. Just the kind of "perfect gift" I
would want to give someone.
I got rid of using a landline and now I don't get telemarketing
calls. I have a family e-mail address and business e-mail address.
Nobody can e-mail my family address unless they are in my address
book. And I expect to get spam mail in the business e-mail inbox. I
do not want Spam SMS too.
And when you click on the "Contact Us" link on the web site they just
offer a e-mail form to fill out and submit. And no phone number of
any kind on this web site.
So, if this is happening to any of you please let me know. And in the
meantime I'll wait for my next "perfect gift" SMS. Until next time,
keep your cell phone charged.

Technology and the yellow jersey!

I have been watching the Tour de France. The riders are amazing to be
able to ride like that. The parts of the tour I find interesting is
the technology. The team manager who rides in the car has two way
communications with each of the riders on his team. The riders have
ear pieces and a little wire goes to a two way communications device
that is strategically placed on their body to lower wind resistance.
Also on each bike is a GPS-like device. This device keeps track of
the location of each bike. This helps in knowing exactly when a bike
crosses the finish line and at what time. So while watching these
riders, there is a lot of technology that is going on behind the scenes.
Yes, I am updating using the iPhone. So enjoy le Tour de France, and
until next time, keep your cell phones charged.

From the iPhone

Yes, I am writing this using the iPhone. The typing on the keyboard
is getting pretty fast. I find myself using my Sidekick3 less now that
I have the iPhone. The Sidekick3 still is great for using AIM, but
there are applications for using AIM on the iPhone. So, I will
continue to use both for the time being. Have you found an all in one
device? Let me know, and until next time, keep your cell phones
charged.

The iPhone is what they said, for the most part.

Well, on the 29th of June I waited in line from 10:45am till 6:00pm to get the iPhone. The only problem I had when activating the iPhone was that I did not have the updated version of iTunes. After that was downloaded I just followed the prompts and I was set up. I had watched the tutorial videos before purchasing the iPhone and found that was all I needed. The web browsing and e-mail applications are what the commercials show. My house has WiFi so it's pretty fast. But sometimes surfing the web can be a little slow when on the EDGE network. The iPod feature is also exactly how the commercials show it working. Just slide your finger over the screen and see the album covers rotate before your eyes. So, in all I am pleased with the iPhone. Apple does not have iChat on the iPhone or instant messaging but hopefully that will be added soon. There are a few web sites you can go to on Safari and log into AIM, so you can chat that way for a while until something better is available. The camera takes good pictures. I just have to sync with the computer to e-mail the pictures to my moblog instead of uploading them where ever I happen to be. The keyboard did not take as long as I thought to get used to. So, is the iPhone my "all in one device". It is pretty close. So until next time keep your cell phones charged.

Quiet now!

At the local university and it's quiet. Spring quarter has ended.
Freshman are happy they made it through their first year. Three more
years ahead on their journey toward their dreams. Sophmores and juniors
are probably happy as well. Then the seniors are done and graduated.
They have their degree. Some will move on for more school. Most of
them will be looking for a job. How will that play out? Will they get
what they wanted? Will they replace someone who was forced out because
of age? Will they not be able to find the job they want because that
job is being out sourced to India? If they are in the medical field
will the government have restrictions on them for finding a cure? How
will this all play out?
Maybe none of this matters because in nine days the iPhone will be
released. Lines around the block and people camping out for days. Is
this what matters most? Why yes it is.
So until next time keep your cell phones charged.

I just do not get it sometimes!

As I am driving today and slowing down to 20mph for the school zone
ahead I notice this car driving fast behind me. This lady honked her
horn and as she is passing me on the right not obeying the posted speed
she slows down looking at me all agitated. I give her the one finger
salute and she looks at me like I am at fault. As she speeds away she
swerves toward my car making me slam on my brake and swerve. As she
speed up ahead of me I see she is cutting people off and swerving
through traffic. I just don't understand people sometimes. Why did she
feel she could drive as reckless and as fast as she wanted without
concern for others? Just one of those life mysterys I guess. Onto a
better topic. The iPhone is coming out on June 29th. I cannot wait! I
saw the commercials for it online first and then this morning I saw an
iPhone commercial on tv. So, until next time keep your cell phones
charged.

Grassy and Hot or Gadget

I almost went to buy the Nokia N800 today. It was either go buy
that or mow the lawn. As much as I think the Nokia N800 would be fun to
have, I don't know if I really would use it often. And you can only use
it when you have WiFi. So needless to say I drug the lawnmower out on
the hot humid day and mowed the lawn. One of those days when the grass
sticks to your sweaty arms. But at least it's done and looks better. I
will just wait for the iPhone. So until next time, keep your cell
phones charged.

More lunchtime ramblings!

A warm sunny day today. I am sitting at the university watching people
eat their lunch. People talking to others and a few are studying I'm
sure for a test they have in the next hour. But basicaly it's nice that
all walks of life are here just being. We are just being in different
ways. A couple walking and holding hands. Lettuce hanging from a
persons mouth after a bite they just took from their sandwich. And of
course me sitting here typing on my Sidekick3. Nothing is better than
that. I hope everyone enjoys their day and weekend. So until next
time keep your cell phones charged.

Lunch time thoughts!

It's a sunny, warm May day around noon. I used to have favorite lunch
time places to go and eat, but I don't anymore. Once a week if my boss
at the sports store and I were working the same shift we would go to
this hole in the wall Chinese buffet for lunch. There was not a lot of
variety but it was pretty good and inexpensive. Then we would go back
to work and never get anything else accomplished because we were so
full. Oh the good old days, right? Seems like a long time ago, yet it
doesn't. But the thing that everyone can do now is use there cell
phones for making calls or texting or even making a blog entry while
sitting in their vehicle. So, if you have a favorite lunch time spot I
hope you can get there today. So until next time keep your cell phones
charged.

An update!

Summer is starting. Today it was sunny and warm. I find myself not
tolerating the heat like I used to, but I'll survive. Here I complain
about the heat yet I went out for a long bike ride today. On a
technology note, there is a lot of hype as to when the iPhone will be
released. It's supposed to be sometime in June. And yes the Sidekick
iD has been released. If nobody wants a camera, MP3 player or bluetooth
but still want the device for communication then it is pretty nice. The
Sidekick iD has removable bumpers so a person can get creative with how
they want it to look. And again I will try and be better about
posting. So until next time, keep your cell phones charged.

About time I made an entry!

I know it's about time I made an entry. I am using my Sidekick3 to make
this entry. The Sidekick iD is supposed to be released next week. The
iD will not have a camera, MP3 player, bluetooth and not use the EDGE
network. So basically a stripped down version of the Sidekick3. So it
may be nice for someone who just wants the communication features of a
Sidekick. Would have been nice if they left a camera on there. So,
will have to wait and see how well it does. It's entry level and a lot
cheaper than the Sidekick3
I will try and be better about making entries. So until next time, keep
your cell phones charged.

My first posting

This is my first posting. I am using the computer since I just set this up. A little more about me is that I love cell phone technology. I carry my Sidekick3 with me everywhere and it's my everything device. Yes, I know everyone likes their cell phone or gadget of choice. I also have a Samsung Blackjack that I like also. They both have features I like. The Sidekick3 is one of the best devices I think for texting or communications like using AIM. The Blackjack is nice because it has video and if I am really bored I can watch some news clips or weather or a music video. So, I hope you'll respond and let me know what your favorite cell phone or gadget is. Remember, keep your cell phones charged.
