What devices or gadgets do you take with you when you travel? Do you take your laptop? Last weekend I was traveling and I took my iPhone for checking and receiving e-mails and web browsing once in a while. I had a camera phone to upload pictures to my moblog. I also brought along a small digital camera to take pictures, and then upload the pictures to the computer when I got home. Carrying three devices around was a little cumbersome, but it gave me a lot of options.
Let me know what devices you take while traveling. Until next time, keep your cell phones charged.

Spam SMS
I woke up this morning and looked at my iPhone and saw I received
a SMS message. Usually it's an IM that is forwarded to my phone.
But no it was not a forwarded IM. This SMS message was the same one I
received last month. "Are you looking for the perfect gift?". Then
it leaves a URL in the SMS. I went to the URL stated in the SMS. I
can buy prestige replica watches. Just the kind of "perfect gift" I
would want to give someone.
I got rid of using a landline and now I don't get telemarketing
calls. I have a family e-mail address and business e-mail address.
Nobody can e-mail my family address unless they are in my address
book. And I expect to get spam mail in the business e-mail inbox. I
do not want Spam SMS too.
And when you click on the "Contact Us" link on the web site they just
offer a e-mail form to fill out and submit. And no phone number of
any kind on this web site.
So, if this is happening to any of you please let me know. And in the
meantime I'll wait for my next "perfect gift" SMS. Until next time,
keep your cell phone charged.

Technology and the yellow jersey!
I have been watching the Tour de France. The riders are amazing to be
able to ride like that. The parts of the tour I find interesting is
the technology. The team manager who rides in the car has two way
communications with each of the riders on his team. The riders have
ear pieces and a little wire goes to a two way communications device
that is strategically placed on their body to lower wind resistance.
Also on each bike is a GPS-like device. This device keeps track of
the location of each bike. This helps in knowing exactly when a bike
crosses the finish line and at what time. So while watching these
riders, there is a lot of technology that is going on behind the scenes.
Yes, I am updating using the iPhone. So enjoy le Tour de France, and
until next time, keep your cell phones charged.

From the iPhone
Yes, I am writing this using the iPhone. The typing on the keyboard
is getting pretty fast. I find myself using my Sidekick3 less now that
I have the iPhone. The Sidekick3 still is great for using AIM, but
there are applications for using AIM on the iPhone. So, I will
continue to use both for the time being. Have you found an all in one
device? Let me know, and until next time, keep your cell phones
charged.

The iPhone is what they said, for the most part.
Well, on the 29th of June I waited in line from 10:45am till 6:00pm to get the iPhone. The only problem I had when activating the iPhone was that I did not have the updated version of iTunes. After that was downloaded I just followed the prompts and I was set up. I had watched the tutorial videos before purchasing the iPhone and found that was all I needed. The web browsing and e-mail applications are what the commercials show. My house has WiFi so it's pretty fast. But sometimes surfing the web can be a little slow when on the EDGE network. The iPod feature is also exactly how the commercials show it working. Just slide your finger over the screen and see the album covers rotate before your eyes. So, in all I am pleased with the iPhone. Apple does not have iChat on the iPhone or instant messaging but hopefully that will be added soon. There are a few web sites you can go to on Safari and log into AIM, so you can chat that way for a while until something better is available. The camera takes good pictures. I just have to sync with the computer to e-mail the pictures to my moblog instead of uploading them where ever I happen to be. The keyboard did not take as long as I thought to get used to. So, is the iPhone my "all in one device". It is pretty close. So until next time keep your cell phones charged.
